Resident Check-In procedures
As noted above, we be using Residence Hall Southwest. Registration will take place in a classroom on the first floor of the dorm. There will be clearly marked signs and UTD dorm staff there to greet you and point you in the right direction. We ask that participants come in and register with the camp, get their room key, and then bring their luggage into to the dorm. Please DO NOT bring your luggage into the registration room or involve it in the registration process. After you have completed registration, you will be able to move into your dorm room. Lunch will be available for students in the cafeteria stating at noon. We do not provide meals for family members on the day of registration. Students will be given schedules and information about orientation and where/when their lab sessions begin.

Resident Life items
It will be hot in Dallas in June and July. Dress casually, pack shorts and short sleeve shirts, flip-flops and comfortable tennis shoes for after lab activities. For the dorm room, you should bring extra-long twin sheets, alarm clock, toilet paper, toiletries, towel, umbrella, and any other amenity you’ll need to feel comfortable in the dorms.
Here is a link to the UTD University Commons webpage. You will be able to find information about the dorms and the amenities that are available in the dorms, such as the laundry facilities.
https://housing.utdallas.edu/housing-options/university-commons/
You should also bring the materials you’ll need to take notes and/or prepare for debates or performances. These items include legal pads, notepads, pens, timer, etc. For residents, three meals a day are provided in the cafeteria. However, some students order pizza and/or other food from delivery services, so it’s usually a good idea to bring a little spending money just in case.
You can also visit our FAQ section on the website to learn more about life at camp and/or items you should bring to camp.

Dress attire information
It will be hot in Dallas in June and July. Dress casually, wear shorts and short sleeve shirts, flip-flops and/or comfortable tennis shoes. You will not need to wear any professional / tournament attire.
Laptops
We highly recommend students bring a laptop to camp. The MGC, like most high school debate programs, is paperless. All high school camp evidence is transmitted and shared electronically.
Cafeteria / Meal Plans
Students will have meal plans for Dining Hall West located very close to Residence Hall Southwest. Students that are residents will have access to 3 meals a day in the cafeteria – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Commuters will have access to 2 meals a day in the cafeteria – lunch and dinner. You can find more information about the cafeteria and see their daily menus on their website:
https://dineoncampus.com/utdallasdining/whats-on-the-menu
July 4th
MGC will have a normal morning schedule and afternoon schedule on the 4th of July. After dinner, there will be movie night, snow cones, cotton candy and time to enjoy the holiday. If you are local and wish to check out your camper to participate in family activities that is fine. Please make separate arrangements with the camp office, so we can coordinate check-out and return times, etc.
