Teachers Workshop

What to Expect

The workshop will provide coaches with an in-depth exploration of cross examination debate, Lincoln Douglas debate, public forum, congressional debate, and individual events. The workshop will include material from multiple institute lectures, presented in an open-discussion format. The workshop's reasonable fee matches our expenses in hosting. It does include lunch and dinner, a parking pass, and curriculum handouts.

Director's Statement

Regardless of your level of experience it’s important for teachers and coaches to stay on the cutting edge of argumentation strategies and familiarize themselves with what and how their students learn at summer institute. The MGCDI Teacher’s Workshop is a way for teachers to be exposed to the same rigorous curriculum to which our students are receiving. Teachers who join our program will "attach" themselves to labs to audit the curriculum for any workshop(s) we offer. Participants in this program will have an opportunity to speak to lab leaders in multiple small group sessions and join in lab discussions and activities.

Glenda Ferguson

We are pleased to announce that Glenda Ferguson will join the Institute as the Teachers' Institute Coordinator this summer. She will act as a mentor to teachers auditing the workshops, and she will be available during the day to help answer questions and coordinate teacher activities, needs, and requests. Glenda has a number of years of experience working with both teachers and students; her success speaks for itself. Glenda recently retired as the speech and debate at Coppell High School and serves as a member of the National Forensic League Executive Council. We are excited that we will be able to offer her expertise for coaches attending our workshops this summer!

MGCDI enrollment will open January 1st 2018! Starting then you can follow the link below to Market Place and reserve your spot in our 2018 summer program. A registration fee of $300.00 is due upon application. Applications after June 1st will incur a $150 late registration fee. The final deadline for all registration is June 18, 2018.
